My Dad had to go to a site visit there and asked us if we wanted to go shopping while he was on site so we did. I absolutely love the atmosphere there - so many cyclists and everything just seems so calm. We also went to Carluccio's for lunch and I had the worst food I have ever tasted there so the manager ended up taking my meal off the bill. Never eating there again! Shane and I moved last night finally (after having the keys for 2 months haha) and Mr Toff seems to be settling in - though he's still not used to his new catflap with all the effort he has to put in to open it (he's lazy) haha! Hope you have a lovely week! I'm so excited for the heat and sunshine we're supposed to be getting this week for a change!

Review: Topshop Lipsticks

I never used to really wear lipstick that much. I always found it too much effort to keep it looking nice and could never find a shade to suit my skintone. After reading Zoe's posts about how much she loves the topshop lipsticks I decided to just take the plunge and buy one. The only downside is that they don't have that many shades to choose from. I've been loving corals for the past few months and the closest thing they had to coral was 'Ohh La La' so I decided to just go for it and buy it online (my local store doesn't stock makeup so I had no idea what I was getting myself into). They also had an offer running at the time to get a free lipstick in 'All About Me' which is a very bright hot pink with blue tones.

The Topshop lipsticks are priced at £8 which I don't think is too bad personally (I usually buy either Revlon or MAC lipsticks). When I received Ohh La La, I was shocked at how bright it was (literally bright orange) but I decided to give it a go anyway. Lets just say, I haven't used any other lipstick since I bought this a few months ago.

They both have a really creamy texture and apply really smooth - though I found that they do cling to dry patches (which is kinda expected) so I always apply it over a lipbalm. I found they last around 2-4 hours depending which I guess isn't too long but thats fine for me. They also have a really floraly scent which I thought was quite weird for a lipstick, but I actually quite like it and I love how you can't taste them on your lips either like some lipsticks.

Since I have quite pigmented lips, I love to apply Ohh La La really lightly just to give my lips a little colour and it creates such a nice natural coral colour (you can see in any of my outfit pictures). Personally, I don't like All About Me as the colour is way too bright for me (even when applied thinly) and I also found it to stain my lips even with one swipe.

Overall, I absolutely love Topshop lipsticks and highly recommend them. I can't wait to add more to my collection (though I'm kind of gutted they don't sell Ohh La La anymore haha). Have you tried Topshop lipsticks before? What did you think?

Home Inspiration

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; It's taken us two months to finally get three rooms complete (to a standard that we can actually live in) even though they're still pretty basic. I can't wait to take inspiration from these and decorate it to how we like it. I can't wait to be able to share some pictures of the finished rooms. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Unsure

To be honest, I don't really like this outfit and was debating even posting it, but we all have good and bad outfits so I thought I would post it anyway. It's been really windy today, though we had some sun at least (which decided it didn't want to show its face in my outfit pictures and hid till we got home haha). I decided to try and mix some prints with this dress (which I layered up and wore as a skirt) and I just love florals and polka dots together so this seemed like a perfect combination. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Dress: Modcloth // Cardigan: George at ASDA // Top: Forever 21 // Shoes: River Island // Bag: Acessorize

Recipe: Cheese, Leek & Bacon Pasta

This is definately one of my all time favourite recipes. I've always loved this flavour pasta and then I came across the most perfect recipe from the Pioneer Woman, so I thought I would share it here too. Me and Shane are complete pasta addicts and this is just the best go-to pasta for when you can't really be bothered to cook something (it's so quick) but you still want something that tastes amazing. Hope you enjoy!

Ingredients:

Pasta Bows

4/5 strips smoked streaky bacon

2 Leeks

100ml white wine

150ml double cream

50g parmesan cheese, grated

Olive oil

butter

Method:

1. Put a large pan of boiling water on. Once boiled, add the pasta bows and leave to simmer until cooked (I find that they are done perfectly by the time I have finished the rest of the dinner).

2. Once the pasta has been added to the water, heat a large pan and add some olive oil. Cut the bacon into small strips and fry for a few minutes till nice and golden.

3. While the bacon is cooking, slice the leeks into thin strips then add to the pan with the bacon once browned. Cook for a few minutes till softened.

4. Once the leeks are soft, add a nob of butter to the pan and mix in well. Leave for a few minutes then add the wine to the pan. Let the wine reduce down till there is almost nothing left then stir in the cream.

5. Once the cream has heated through, turn off the heat and grate in the parmesan. Mix well then serve immediately.

*This makes enough for around 3-4 people so we usually just put the leftovers in the fridge and eat them the next day for lunch. You can refresh the sauce a little by adding in a splash of milk before reheating.

Dusty Pink

This jumper is definately one of my favourite spring buys. It's weird because I never wear jumpers for fear of becoming too hot haha (this is the only one I own) but I was drawn to this one by the colour (I've been going coral/dusty pink crazy lately which is another thing I don't usually go for) but I absolutely love this. It's lovely and thin too so it's perfect for spring weather and theres so many ways to style it up. Hope you're having a great week so far!

Jumper: Miss Selfridge // Skirt: Thrifted // Shoes: River Island // Necklace: Topshop

Day Trip: Whipsnade Zoo

Shane and I decided to take a trip to the Zoo today since he had the day off because of the bank holiday (thank god for bank holidays haha). We were going to go to the safari park instead because it was supposed to rain but they kinda freak me out - especially the monkey sections haha. I know theres a lot of controversy about Zoo's etc but in terms of conservation and animal protection, I think they're great! Whipsnade is more of an animal park because they have so much space to roam around too which is even better for them so its all good with me. We had such an amazing time even though we were soaked and freezing cold by the end of it (next time I'll wear more appropriate clothing hah) but it was still a great day out. Hope everyone has a lovely week!

Photo Diary: Week 25

cute hamster // trying to pursade shane to let me get one // new real techniques blush brush // avocado & cottage cheese + branston pickle pork pie // sweet potato and coriander soup // shane // frankie and benny's for dinner // so much decorating // paint // present from shane // gunna miss this wallpaper // lenny!

Is it seriously May already? I know I say this all the time but the time just seems to be flying by lately. This week was a pretty boring week to be honest - I had a couple interviews (I didn't get the job I really wanted, but I'm still waiting to hear back about the other one), and cracked down with decorating the house since we need to start moving in soon. I can't believe we've had the house for almost two months now and we still haven't moved over (and it's only next door haha). We're almost finished the living room so hopefully we'll be moved in this week coming/next week. Hope everyone has a good week!

Swan Print

How amazing is the lighting in these photos? Shane and I took them last night after he got in from work. We actually had amazing weather yesterday with it reaching around 16C - we havent seen that for weeks (or the sun) so it was just a perfect day after weeks of rain (which has now come back). I bought this skirt yesterday to wear to a couple job interviews since it's still 'me' while still being able to dress it up and its a really nice length and material too compared to some of my other skirts haha! Isn't the print just so cute?!

Blouse: Dorothy Perkins // Skirt: Topshop // Shoes: River Island

April Favourites

1. Wish Wish Wish // 2. Chloe's Addiction // 3. Po Mojej Stronie Lustra // 4. Selective Potential // 5. Kendi Everyday // 6. Petite Panoply // 7. Streets & Stripes // 8. Keiko Lynn // 9. Shades of Monet // 10. Calivintage // 11. Kendi Everyday // 12. Style Surgery // 13. K is for Kani // 14. Kelli Murray // 15. Wayward Daughter // 16. Visionary Dreams // 17. Girl & Closet // 18. Delightfully Tacky

Ahh, I seriously cannot believe that it is already May tomorrow. Where has this year gone? There have been so many inspiring outfits this month that I've really loved and I found some great new blogs too (some of which are included here). This month has been a busy month for Shane and I moving house and all and we're still not in there yet haha! We're almost finished the dining room, then it'll be onto the living room then we'll be in by the end of next week (thats the plan anyway). So exciting! I've also had a couple job interviews lately which I'm so excited about. Some of the places just seem like the perfect fit for me so wish me luck! :) How has your month been and what have you been loving lately? (Also, I try not to feature the same blogger twice in one post, but I literally had 4 of Kendi's outfits ready to go up and I just love these both so much)

Photo Diary: Week 24

cinnamon rolls // subway lunch // mr toff // yellow fields // rainbow // ikea - again // croque madame // baby ladybird //
avocado & cottage cheese - the best! // rachel khoo - the little paris kitchen recipe book // inside the book (so cute) // too much rain //
danish pastry's // cute cat we always see on photo locations

I'm so glad we managed to get some outfit photos this week in the little breaks from the rain. I know we're in a draught but I just wish the rain would stop now - we've had almost a month of constant rain and me and rain = not friends haha! That and the fact that my only pair of shoes have broken so my feet are soggy everytime I go out now haha! My mum was so kind and ordered me a new pair of minnetonka's so I'm sooo excited for those to get here. I'm also really excited about this new recipe book I bought. I watched the tv series and I just find Rachel so inspiring and her recipes just looked amazing so I can't wait to try some out from the book! Especially the madelines haha! Hope everyone has a great week!

Review: LUSH Each Peach Massage Bar

LUSH - £5.25 for 65g

When I shopping the other week, I decided to pop into Lush and have a browse. I swear that store just sucks me in though because I can never leave without buying something. So I bought this massage bar and a couple other things (reviews to come soon).

I've never used a massage bar from Lush before so I decided to give this one a go. I like the idea of using a bar rather than a massage oil because they can get really messy so this really appealed to me. Although it's called Each Peach, it actually contains no peach extracts or oils and smells more like lemons and grapefruits than peaches but I love that! The main ingredients are cocoa butter, shea butter, avocado butter and mango kernal butter mixed with grapefruit, orange, lime and mandarin essential oils and the smell is just amazing.

To use, you simply rub the masage bar between your hands or directly onto the skin until it starts to melt. I found that it didn't take too long and my hands were covered after a couple rubs so I can imagine the bar lasting quite a long time. It can also be used as a moisturiser for dry skin too, though it did feel a little greasy after Shane gave me a massage and I wouldn't particularly want it on my clothes or in my hair so I personally wouldn't use it as a moisturiser. I also recommend keeping the packaging that it comes in as storage, otherwise it'll make everything greasy.

In terms of massages, we found that it lasted around 10-15 minutes or so before it started drying up to the point of needing to use more but I actually liked that because it sort of ended the massage and I didnt have to worry about going from a nice relaxing massage to jumping straight into the shower to wash it off. It left my skin feeling really soft and moisturised for the next couple days and the smell wasn't too overpowering. Overall, I love this massage bar and will definately be repurchasing it when this one runs out.

Fields of Sunshine

I have been dying to get some pictures in the yellow rapeseed fields for a while now. I took some photos last year too and I just loved the outcome and the brightness of it all so of course we had to go again this year. So I wore this playsuit as a pair of shorts again and I really like the outcome. I think I'm actually going to make them into a pair of shorts because I never wear it as a playsuit haha! I just need to loose a little weight first because it was a tad too tight hah! Hope everyone's having a good week so far! :)

Top & Belt: H&M // Cardigan: George of ASDA // Playsuit (worn as shorts): The Kissing Tree Vintage // Shoes: River Island

Pastels for Spring

I'm not entirely sure how much I like this outfit - I don't think it's really 'me' with the short cardigan haha. I'm actually considering selling this dress since I've only worn it once before and didn't like it on me, but I decided to give it one more go to see how I like it. I'm still not sure since it sits really weird on me but we'll see how it goes. I'm actually planning on clearing out my wardrobe for when we move since I have so much stuff that I never wear anymore. There was finally a break in all the rain on Sunday (when we took these) so I jumped at the opportunity to go out. Hope everyone's having a good week so far :)

Dress: The Kissing Tree Vintage // Belt: Target // Cardigan: H&M // Shoes: River Island

Recipe: Cinnamon Rolls

Ever since Shane and I visited Florida back in December where our 'breakfast' was eating Frosties from a disposable cup every morning with the occasional cinnamon roll, I've been craving Cinnamon Rolls. Real bad. In the UK (where I live anyway) we don't have cinnamon rolls, but cinnamon swirls which are made with puff pastry instead. I've always loved them, but they really are no match for a cinnamon roll. Since I had no luck finding any, I just had to make some instead - though every recipe was in US measurements, I gave it a go anyway (I was going to try convert the recipe to grams, but I found out that 1 cup of flour is much less than 250g which is what it says on my cup measures so by then it was too confusing and innaccurate haha). They turned out ok and everyone has been devouring them over the weekend! Let me know if you try them or have made your own for any tips/other recipes to try.

Ingredients:

2 cups milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup sugar

1 packet (7g) dried yeast

4 cups flour + 1/2 extra cup

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

pinch of bicarbonate soda (baking soda)

1/2 tablespoon salt

1 cup butter, softened (not melted)

1/3 cup cinnamon

1 cup sugar

icing sugar

water

vanilla extract

Method:

1. Add the milk, vegetable oil and sugar to a large pan and warm through till almost boiled, then leave to cool for approx 45 minutes so it's lukewarm. (after doing this I decided that it would be much simpler to just heat through 1 cup of milk with the other ingredients, then add the other cup after to cool faster).

2. Add the yeast to the warm milk mix and leave for a minute or so, then add the 4 cups of flour and mix well. Leave to rise for an hour.

3. Add the extra 1/2 cup flour to pan with the baking powder, bicarb of soda and salt and stir well to mix. Leave to sit while you make the filling.

4. Mix the cinnamon and sugar with the softened butter to a smoothe paste.

5. Divide the roll mixture in half and roll out to make a large rectangle about 1/2-1cm thick. Spread over the cinnamon mixture right to the edges carefully so not to tear the dough. Then starting from the far side roll the dough towards you tightly.

6. Slice the roll into pieces about 1 inch thick (I used dental floss to slice it as I found a knife sticks to the dough and squashes the roll. Put a strip of floss under the roll, pull up on both sides and cross over to slice - it's so much easier!)

7. Place the cinnamon rolls in some ovenproof dishes (I found the mix used up 2 dishes making about 24 medium/small sized rolls). Leave to rise for another 30 mins or so then bake in a preheated oven at 190C/375F for around 15 minutes or until the middles start to rise up.

8. Mix some icing sugar with a splash of vanilla extract and water to a smooth paste, then drizzle over the rolls and let to cool. Enjoy! :)

Photo Diary: Week 23

cooking dinner // tasty wine // he loves me // tastes like hot chocolate // nandos // how do you like your nandos // chicken burger // friends cookie // lush buys // living room sneak peek // donut // mr toff's trip to the vets // pretty cafe // loved this teapot // more prettyness // lunch with mum and bro // even more prettyness // making cinnamon rolls // about to cook cinnamon rolls // taking outfit photos // grey skys // shane // me // cinnamon roll // mr toff's cute paw // really need to start making these!

Wow! I'm so glad to be back, you don't know how much I've been dying to get out and take photos this week but we've been having constant rain for the past 5 days so it's not been too nice out. As we were taking these photos, there was a massive black cloud on its way over to us and we just made it home in time haha! So anyway, this is pretty much my favourite outfit ever. I've probably worn this exact comination about 20 times in the last month hahahha! Can you believe that this is the only jumper that I actually own? I was a little unsure of buying it but I'm so glad I did - I love it. And its the most perfect colour too! What have you been loving this spring?

Jumper: Miss Selfridge // Skirt & since we both had the day off work. If you didn't know, Chatsworth House was a filming location in the film Pride and Prejudice as Mr Darcy's home. Ever since I saw that film, I've wanted to visit but only just got the chance now. We were so suprised when we got up there that there was snow still on the ground up in the hills which you could see in the distance. I absolutely loved it there! I seriously love walking around old stately homes like this and admiring all the collections and decoration (and the gardens, they were amazing too). I wish I could decorate our house like that haha! I think my favourite room was the long green hallway with the massive chandelier. Have you ever visited Chatsworth?

Photo Diary: Week 22

pretty restaurant garden // caeser salad // caramel apple crumble pie - so tasty // hail storm // pretty sunset // ice cream // merry-go-round music box // my gran's room // ikea - again! // pretty flowers // mr toff // dominos pizza

I haven't really been in a blogging mood lately, as you can probably tell. I've been too busy with <strike>not </strike>decorating the house and searching for full time jobs so we can actually afford to decorate the house haha! I was actually hoping to get back into the swing of it this week, but the weather is not on our side and we're apparently going to have constant rain for the next week. So much for a draught haha! Hopefully I'll be back to normal posting soon!

Review: Simple Moisture Boost Hydro Cream

My skin has been super dry for the past couple months. I usually have dry skin, but lately it was that bad that I've had to consider changing my foundation (MAC Studio Sculpt) with no luck on finding one that didn't emphasise the dry patches on my skin. I switched back to using Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish too which helped a little bit, but it was still super dry. I went in search of something to use and found this Moisture Boost Hydro Cream in Superdrug. At £5.99 I was a little unsure whether it would actually work, but I decided to just give it a go anyway.

There aren't many instructions that come with it which I thought was a little offputting. Obviously its a cream so you just apply it to your face, but I didn't know whether it was to be used on its own, or with moisturiser. As my skin was just so dry, I decided to use it with my normal moisturiser, applying this first. It also has a pump which I love. I just use about a pea sized amount and that does my whole face.

After about 2 days, I could already see and feel the difference in my skin. It felt a lot softer, plump and moisturised which was amazing. I've only been applying it once a day (in the morning) and already my skin has improved so much in a week and a half. Although there are still little dry patch's on my nose and forehead, they have improved so much to how they were before I started using this and I hope they'll continue to improve.

I was a little worried that around my nose and chin (which aren't usually too dry) it would start to get quite greasy, but it hasn't done that at all which I was quite impressed by. Overall, I love this product and would completely recommend this if you have dry skin. Have you tried this? What did you think of it?

Photo Diary: Week 21

lunch with mum // amazing changing room // wearing jeans // bought stuff for the house // favourite breakfast // trying this simple moisture boost // creme egg // souvlaki style burgers with greek salad // sofa at chatsworth house // chandelier at chatsworth house // library at chatsworth house // cute little book // mushroom soup // cherry cheesecake // loved this sign // loved this cushion // pretty roses // afternoon tea // aunties vintage plates // shane :)

Ahh, how amazing is it to have Instagram back?! It actually took me a while to get back into it and debated just carrying on using the programme that I've been using the past couple months but I got back into the swing of things and just loved it way more than before :) Since it was the bank holiday on friday, Shane and I took a trip to Chatsworth House for the day (it was Mr Darcy's house in Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly) which was really nice. It was weird that there was little bits of snow on the ground though haha! I was planning to have a blog post up last night, but I keep forgetting to get my camera out of my car haha! I'm terrible. Today we just spent the morning building furniture for the house then went to my aunties house for some tea which was lovely. Hope everyone had a great easter and long weekend! :)

Photo Diary: Week 20

Kitty from Being Little's Shop // Sheep Money Box for Mum's birthday present // Beatrix Potter money tin // Ration Tea // Sunny evening // Pretty park bench // First BBQ of the year // Cooking the food // Lovely dinner // Helly Kitty Jelly from the Chinese Buffet // Train // Pretty Blossom // (last 6) Vintage Airplanes and Lifesaver boats at Duxford Imperial War Museum

This week has been probably my favourite week so far. We had the most perfect weather right up Friday when it chilled right down again, but we enjoyed it while we could. We went out for lovely walks and had a BBQ too which was amazing. I also had yesterday off work (I work every Saturday & Sunday) so Shane and I took a trip to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford to see all the vintage war planes. It was really good and we took so many pictures! I can't wait for this weekend coming (Easter weekend) since me and Shane have a few more days out planned! (we don't usually get to go out together during the day since he works Monday-Friday so it's nice to get a full day together haha) What have you been up to this week? If you've done similar posts, I'd love to see! :)

Review: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

I bought this foundation after reading recommendations from my current foundation review (MAC Studio Sculpt) that this would be a good foundation for my dry skin. I did loads of research beforehand and convinced myself that it was definately worth the £29.50 so went ahead and bought it from ASOS. I'm an NW15 usually and decided to buy it in Month Blanc which was the perfect colour for my skin (it's lighter than NW15 but I find that to be a little too dark/yellow for my skin, whereas this was more pink which I loved - it matched perfectly).

It's a sheer-medium coverage foundation which I honestly wasnt too bothered about since I have pretty decent skin anyway and I found that it covered my skin pretty decently. I would say that it verges more on the medium coverage than sheer and I found that it was buildable to a certain extent.

It's also a satin/dewy finish foundation which was what I was after since my skin is dry so I wanted to give it that glowing look. It applied really dewy to start off with but then after a couple minutes, it did matt down quite a lot which I was quite dissapointed about since it is called 'Sheer Glow'. I found that it had average staying power, probably around 6 hours (I touch my face quite a lot) but around then it could probably do with a couple touch ups.

I bought this because it is supposed to be really good for normal-dry skin, but I unfortunately had to send it back because it actually really accentuated the dry patches on my skin, particularly on my forehead and around/on my nose. I wrote that the Studio Sculpt did this too, but after using Sheer Glow I realised that it actually wasn't so bad as I thought. I honestly wouldn't recommend this for people with dry skin at all, unless your skin is really good. It also streaked quite a lot when I applied it with a foundation brush and a stippling brush. I tried applying it with my fingers too as it recommends but I found this to be even worse.

I also didn't like (like pretty much everyone else) that it doesn't have a pump unless you buy one for it (which you then can't use the lid with). I always ended up pouring too much foundation out on my hand and had to mess around trying to get it back in the top. Other than that I love the packaging. I really wanted to love this foundation but it really just did not suit my dry skin at all. Let me know if you've got/tried this foundation before. How did you get on with it?
